Being Agreeable…

Another key element in training a dog can be summed up in one word. That word is AGREEABLE. What does that mean? What does that require? What does that entail?

The meaning of agreeable is willing to agree, acceptable (insert Joe Clark voice).

What does that require? It will require the dog owner to take the trainers advice and do their best to implement it.

What does that entail? You will need to involve yourself with the training.

Why is this important? It’s important because without being agreeable training is not going to be successful. If the owner doesn’t believe in the trainer/methods than how can they be agreeable?

I have several examples over the years where dog owners are simply not agreeable and that leads to bad results in training. For instance, we may tell a dog owner not to share their sleeping space with the dog and they will not comply. Sleeping space is reserved for the pack leader and if the owner allows that to be shared, then guess what…pack leadership is also shared or taken from the owner.

The dog owner may be doing everything else correctly, but they don’t comply with that rule, and it puts other parts of the training at risk.

The good news is that Always Faithful Dog Trainers make it easy to be agreeable. We teach you how to communicate with your dog in the dog’s language and when you do that a wonderful event occurs…the dog becomes AGREEABLE!
